CUPE Local 439
The Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 439 would like to acknowledge that we are on the unceded traditional territory of the Pentlach, the E’iksan, the Sahtloot and the Sistala Peoples (K’omoks First Nations). We are thankful for the privilege of living on the land and the gift of working with their children.
CUPE Local 439 represents approximately 700 members employed by School District 71 in Comox Valley. Our members are Education Workers in School District # 71, a group of dedicated workers providing ongoing support and maintenance to the schools and students in Comox Valley. Our members perform a variety of jobs required to support students and maintain our schools’ operations. We are a diverse and active group of professional workers in our local communities and workplaces.
School District 71 encompasses schools from Miracle Beach to the North and Deep Bay to the South, which includes Denman and Hornby Islands. Many of our members are involved in local charities, youth clubs, small businesses, and other community action groups. We might be your neighbor, or your child’s coach.
